Robo-Cup

The entire world is now glued to the TV screen for the once in four years soccer madness called World Cup 2010. Indeed it is a very unique event that even those who are not so feeling the soccer spirit, seem to get really into it.

Well to tell you the truth, I don’t like soccer that much and I don’t even find the world cup to be that interesting, but what I do like is robots, and if these robots are trying to play soccer now that to me is super interesting soccer!

How can robots play soccer you ask? Well robots don’t play as well as humans do, but the phenomenon is so interesting that they even have their own soccer world cup called Robo-Cup.

Robo-Cup is a worldwide competition and convention for robot builders and fanatics, from mad scientists to garage geeks, who program their robots to play soccer together. Well for most of us humans, playing soccer is something fairly easy, but for the robots it requires a lot of complicated mathematical calculations to do in the blink of an eye.
