The Obama's sure had an exciting Easter at the White House with the arrival of their new puppy and the annual Easter Egg Roll. America, meet your First Dog - Bo!
Bo is a 6 month old Portuguese Water dog who was given to the Obama's as a gift by Senator Ted Kennedy. The breed is known for being an excellent companion and a
high-spirited, loving dog with a hypoallergenic coat, a perfect match
for Malia Obama, who suffers from allergies.
(Malia and Sasha named Bo after blues legend Bo Diddley. "Diddley was also Michelle Obama's father's nickname!)
The "Egg Roll" is one of the greatest White House traditions. Mr. and Mrs. Obama waved enthusiastically to the crowd and shared conversations with the Easter Bunny.
"Our goal today is just to have fun," he said. "We want to focus on activity, healthy eating. We've got yoga, we've got dancing, we've got storytelling, we've got Easter Egg decorating; oh we've got basketball, a little soccer as well." The president read "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak, which he called "one of my favorite books."
Congratulations on the new puppy! He is adorable!
