A company called Zero Pollution Motors has just invented a car that runs on air.
It will cost about $20,000, and will run on mostly air, along with a little oil, alcohol or just a pink of gas. This car uses the same technology that old-fashioned car engines used. Instead of combusting gas or diesel like most cars today do, this air car uses compressed air to get the pistons going.
This car will only go 35 miles per hour on a tank of compressed air. If you add a little fuel to the air, it can also go on the highway, getting an average of 106 miles per gallon of gas. This is nearly double the mileage of the Toyota Prius.
Zero Pollution Motors plans to start making these for sale in 2011. What do you think of the look of these cars? Do you think people will buy them?
