A policeman has died after being attacked by a bear in a forest in Transylvania.
The police officer and a friend were walking through the woods when the bear mauled him. The man's friend ran and called for help. It was said that he died after suffering a massive heart attack, not actually from the wounds inflicted in the attack. Although most bears should be in hibernation right now, their numbers have increased due to stricter hunting laws.
If you find yourself in heavy wooded areas where there could possibly be bears, here are a few tips.
* Stay calm and avoid sudden movements - don't swing your arms and scream!
* Give the bear plenty of room - it may react aggressively if it feels cornered.
* If you spot a bear and it does not see you, back away quickly and quietly.
* Never run from a bear, it will probably chase you and they can run up to 30 mph!
* Never feed or toss food to a bear.
* Everyone always says to climb a tree, but in fact most bears can climb, he'll join you up there in a few minutes.
They did not say what type of bear it was, but all of them are dangerous - even cute panda bears, they are wild animals. I think the best advice I can offer is, stay out of the woods and avoid bears all together!
