The Secret Life of Bees is a new film that's all about maturing, mothers, and mysteries. It stars Dakota Fanning and Jennifer Hudson and is based on a 2002 best selling novel by Sue Monk Kidd.
The plot sounds dramatic and touching. It's set up in South Carolina, 1964 and follows two friends, lily and Rosaleen, who run away from home in the hopes of helping one finally solve a lifelong mystery surrounding her mother.
The two girls end up in Tiburon, a small town where they hope to finally solve the mystery surrounding Lily's mother. There, they meet three odd beekeeping sisters who take them both in and introduce them to the magical world of honey and bees.
Fans of Queen Latifah and Alicia Keys will be psyched to know that they are also in the film, playing two of the three sisters. Also, the film was produced by none other than Will Smith! The Secret Life of Bees opens October 17.
